From Theory to Practice
Preparing to Study 34 Key Remedies
Closing Out the Theory Block
Over the past fourteen chapters, you’ve built a genuinely thorough theoretical foundation — likely more homeopathic theory than most casual users of homeopathic remedies ever encounter. Before this course moves into its largest section, 34 in-depth remedy profiles, this chapter briefly consolidates that foundation.
What You’ve Covered in Block 2
You’ve learned what homeopathy is and its basic premise (Chapter 11), the story of Samuel Hahnemann and how he arrived at his discoveries (Chapter 12), the Law of Similars (Chapter 13), the concept of the vital force (Chapter 14), what potencies are and how dilution and succession work (Chapter 15), how remedies are actually manufactured (Chapter 16), the two major reference tools — Materia Medica and repertories (Chapters 17-18) — the distinction between acute and chronic disease (Chapter 19), the theory of miasms (Chapter 20), how homeopathy’s philosophy compares to conventional medicine (Chapter 21), what polychrest remedies are (Chapter 22), the concept of constitution and temperament (Chapter 23), and finally the practical basics of storing and handling remedies (Chapter 24).
Why This Foundation Matters for What’s Coming
Every one of the 34 remedy profiles in the next block will use vocabulary and concepts introduced in this theory block without re-explaining them — “polychrest,” “constitutional type,” “modality,” “potency,” and “miasm” will all appear regularly. If any of these terms still feel unfamiliar, this is a good moment to revisit the relevant chapter before continuing, since the next block moves at a faster pace through a much larger volume of remedy information.
What Makes Block 3 Different
Where Block 1 introduced nine remedies briefly and practically, Block 3 goes considerably deeper — profiling 34 major remedies (many of them polychrests, as defined in Chapter 22) in the same structured format you’ve already seen: keynotes, indications, remedy comparisons, dosing guidance, and real-world scenarios. This is the heart of the course’s remedy knowledge, and the theory you’ve just completed is what will let you actually understand why these remedies work the way their profiles describe.
A Suggestion for How to Approach Block 3
Rather than trying to memorize all 34 remedies at once, consider reading a handful at a time and returning to compare related remedies against each other, much like the comparison sections within each chapter do — this mirrors how the remedy comparison chapters in Block 4 will later help you distinguish between similar-looking presentations.
- Block 2 covered homeopathy’s complete theoretical foundation: its history, core principles, potencies, manufacturing, reference tools, and key concepts like miasms and constitution
- This vocabulary will be used throughout the next 34 remedy chapters without re-explanation
- Block 3 goes deeper than Block 1’s introductory remedies, covering major polychrests and specialty remedies in full detail
- Revisiting earlier theory chapters as needed will make the upcoming remedy block easier to absorb
What’s Next
The course now begins Block 3 with one of homeopathy’s most famous and broadly applicable remedies.
